One of the reasons I love Mission is because of how prideful it's residents are. It's a small community with a big heart! I also love how easy it is to find out what's happening around town! In case you are as interested as I am .... here's some information.
Here are some of the projects underway in and around our community from across Municipal operations.
- The District’s auditors – BDO – were at the Municipal Hall last week, performing the annual audit of the District’s 2015 Draft Financial Statements. These financial statements, along with the Auditor’s Report will be brought forward to Council at the May 2, 2016 Regular Meeting of Council.
- Construction is well underway on the new skate park next to the Leisure Centre. New Line Skateparks Inc. will be in charge of the construction.
- A group of youth are currently working with District staff to plan the 2016 Youth Fest and are looking forward a great event at the beginning of May.
- Planning is ongoing for a food truck festival at Fraser River Heritage Park on April 30.
- Our Public Works Department is in spring cleaning mode. You may see crews around the District tidying up jobs that were done over the winter, including top soiling, some small pave jobs, and a few concrete repairs.
- On April 13, the District of Mission and partners are hosting a symposium on substance abuse and addictions. The symposium will give service providers and municipalities the opportunity to learn about important work being done in this area across the lower mainland, and to engage in a dialogue with those working at the ground level and advancing the state of practice in this area.
